Job Description - Paramedic - Immediate Care Clinic

National Jewish Health is currently seeking a

Full-Time Paramedic

to join our growing Immediate Care Clinic. We are a dedicated group of professionals looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Paramedic to help us care for a variety of walk-in adult and pediatric patients. ICC provides care for those experiencing respiratory illness, lacerations, sprains, strains, and other minor illnesses. We also interact with the rest of the National Jewish campus as part of the emergency medical response team.

We offer the opportunity for day-time hours (no night shift), flexible schedules, two weekend shifts per month with weekend shift differential, and holiday pay. The clinic operates from 7:30 am - 8:00 pm.

Position Summary
The Acute Care Paramedic, under the authority of the Chief Medical Officer and with direction from physicians or advanced practice providers, is responsible for providing general patient care, urgent, and emergency care and performs necessary technical procedures for pediatric and adult patients; this in accordance with physician's orders, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies. The quality of care and service provided will adhere to the philosophy and objectives of National Jewish Health in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients and their families.

Essential Duties

Performs technical procedures as delegated, to include but not limited to establishing IV access, phlebotomy, collecting specimens, performing ECGs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, airway management, and providing advanced life support.
Orders, restocks and manages inventory of medical supplies. Assists with patient flow and keeping patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
Completes tasks including verifying patient information; reviewing and updating medical records.
Assists health care providers during examinations; ensures that instruments, supplies and equipment are available; performs basic testing; disposes of contaminated supplies, and cleans or prepares for sterilization of medical instruments.
Provides basic respiratory therapy and airway management to patients.
Prepares laboratory specimens, performs Point of Care lab testing.
Assists in balancing workloads, and interacts collaboratively with staff and providers to monitor and maintain efficient patient flow.
Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.
Provides standardized education for patients and families through written and verbal instructions as directed by provider.
May serve as a preceptor and mentor to other team members, training them to specific clinical skillsets (vascular access, airway management, emergency procedures, etc).
Cross trains to cover multiple roles within department and performs non-medical duties as requested.
Completes, maintains and submits requisite reports and compliance measures.
Participates in hospital committees, as directed by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience:

Minimum 18 months of experience in a clinical setting, plus 6 months of paramedic experience with an active license required. EMT experience is preferred. Experience in emergency room or urgent care environments is preferred.
Special Training, Certification or Licensure:

CDPHE certification required. NREMT certification required. Current AHA Healthcare Provider (BLS), ACLS Provider, PALS Provider certifications.

Salary Range:

$21.00 - $28.42/hour + shift differential for weekend shifts
