Parent Center Communications & Project Coordinator

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is a national nonprofit organization working to prevent sexual abuse and exploitation mass scale by eliminating institutional behaviors & cultural norms that enable it. Through advocacy, education, research, communications, and strategic partnerships, NCOSE works to advance policies, practices, and cultural change that protect human dignity and promote healthier communities.

The NCOSE Parent Center is a key part of this work, equipping parents and caregivers with practical resources, education, and support to help children navigate an increasingly sexualized and digital world. The Parent Center helps families understand emerging risks, have meaningful conversations with children, and take informed action to create safer environments for young people.

Position Overview

NCOSE is seeking a creative, organized, and proactive Parent Center Communications & Project Coordinator to help expand the reach and impact of this work. The coordinator will play an important role in telling the stories of NCOSE and the Parent Center, engaging key audiences, supporting campaigns and initiatives, and helping communicate the organization's impact through compelling, strategic content.

Key Responsibilities

Parent Center Communications & Storytelling

• Lead communications for the NCOSE Parent Center, including newsletters, blogs, social media, and promotional materials.


• Develop compelling stories, testimonials, and impact communications that demonstrate the Parent Center's value and outcomes.


• Develop monthly donor/Insider communications and provide content support for Parent Center fundraising efforts.


• Create audience-specific communications and materials, including content for schools and other key audiences.

Podcast & Content Development

• Manage the content and workflow for the 7-Minute podcast, including topic development, episode planning, staff coordination, scheduling, and follow-up.


• Identify opportunities to repurpose podcast and other content across NCOSE communications channels.

Campaigns & Special Projects

• Support communications strategy, content development, and project coordination for priority campaigns and organizational initiatives.


• Adapt messaging and materials for different audiences, platforms, and channels.


• Provide communications support for selected Corporate Advocacy campaigns and cross-functional projects.

Project & External Stakeholder Support

• Assist with project coordination and management for selected Parent Center and organizational initiatives.


• Participate in meetings with partners, donors, schools, and other external stakeholders as appropriate.


• Prepare communications materials, talking points, and follow-up for external engagements.


• Identify opportunities, stories, and next steps that emerge from external relationships and projects.

Collaboration & Coordination

• Work closely with Parent Center, Communications, Advancement, Corporate Advocacy, and other teams to advance organizational priorities.


• Manage multiple priorities independently, communicate proactively about challenges, and adjust focus as organizational needs evolve.

Position Development

NCOSE is a growing organization, and its communications, programmatic, fundraising, and advocacy needs will continue to develop. Accordingly, the responsibilities and emphasis of this position may evolve over time.

NCOSE will periodically review the scope of the position to ensure that responsibilities, priorities, and areas of focus remain aligned with organizational needs and opportunities. This may include adjustments to the balance of communications, project coordination, Parent Center support, external engagement, campaign support, or other related responsibilities.

The goal is to ensure that the position provides meaningful organizational value while allowing the coordinator to contribute at the highest level of their skills and capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field preferred.


• Demonstrated experience in communications, content development, storytelling, marketing, or a related field.


• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.


• Strong organizational and project management skills.


• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.


• Ability to translate complex ideas and organizational activities into clear, compelling communications.


• Strong attention to detail and follow-through.


• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.


• Experience with social media, email marketing, basic graphic design, or content management platforms preferred.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements

• This is a hybrid position in the DC Office. Individuals will be required to sit for long periods, stand, or walk as needed. Also, light lifting - up to 15 pounds.


• For remote positions, the individual must work in a quiet space - no background noise - and have the camera turned on during all calls and meetings.


• Local travel to meetings, including walking or taking an uber or cab. Occasional out of town travel may be required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience with a range of $55,000 – $65,000. Benefits include generous medical, dental, vision insurance, FSA, 401K, paid time off, and EAP.
