Job Description - Park Operations Assistant Manager

Description

Full Time, Benefit Eligible 

The Assistant Manager of Park Operations requires a demonstrated, working knowledge of the Operations Department with a focus on managing performance of assigned team members and holding them accountable to all policies and procedures. In this role you will establish and implement short and long-range objectives for the team members, oversee related functions and activities, and administer company policy and procedures. You will inspire and motivate the team to deliver excellence in everything they do.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leading Others:

  • Drive day to day leadership engagement with our team members and provide visible leadership presence.
  • Lead and influence team through effective motivation, leveraging individual strengths to ensure guest satisfaction and maximum productivity.
  • Foster a positive environment that builds community and trust.
  • Cultivate a team environment that provides exceptional guest service while directing the team and ensuring all team members perform at a consistently high level.
  • Manage conflicts and resolve complaints about or within the department.
  • Assist in hiring, retention of team and execution of team member training programs.
  • Mentor and counsel team members to provide growth and development opportunities.
  • Hold team member accountable to adhere to policies and procedures, ensuring that everything is within compliance of departmental standards.

Driving Performance:

  • Continuously improve operational execution through attention to detail and adherence to department operating standards.
  • Personally, demonstrates a commitment to guest service by anticipating and responding promptly to guest needs.
  • Assist the manager in organizing, planning and implementing strategy.
  • Manage daily aspects of the department and its staff to ensure projects are completed and goals and guest needs are met.
  • Drive departmental performance, identifying and facilitating opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor and provide support with managing labor and operating expenses.

Supporting the Team:

  • Conduct yourself and the business in alignment with principles and integrity of GGP Parks.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty program on a regular basis. Manager on Duty is responsible for overseeing park operations for the day, ensuring guest safety and satisfaction, and responding to emergency situations as needed.
  • May be assigned additional duties as necessary.

Requirements

Strengths and Abilities:

  • Must possess proven ability to lead, inspire, develop and motivate team members.
  • Experienced with effectively leading teams through change and being a change agent by removing barriers and aligning performance to company goals.
  • Able to work in a fast-pace environment, remain calm under pressure, juggle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
  • Ability to effectively respond to and potentially diffuse an escalated guest or team member situation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision, take initiative to solve issues as they arise and accept constructive criticism as given.
  • Desire to be an integral part of a team and work together to accomplish goals.
  • Experienced in managing processes or projects.
  • High degree of adaptability. Must be able to shift priorities seamlessly while remaining efficient and effective.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to exhibit professionalism and sound decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to-waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, stand, sit, lift and walk indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time, simple grasp and fine hand manipulations tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing).
  • Be able to work inside and outside, in varying weather, to include extreme cold/heat.
  • Position may be exposed to fumes dust, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds individually and 100 pounds with assistance.

Computer Proficiency:

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, or any related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years leadership experience required, 4+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of a 365-day operation, varied and long shifts including holidays, weekends and events.
  • Functional experience in Guest Services, Volunteer Programs, Hospitality, Operations, Custodial and / or Maintenance, or applicable businesses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills.
  • Five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Safety-Sensitive:

This is a safety-sensitive position. Applicants, regardless of whether they are a medical marijuana licensee, must receive a negative result on a 10-panel, pre-placement drug screening to include THC, prior to beginning work.
