Job Description - Participation Loan Accountant

Position:  Participation Loan Accountant                               Location:  Broken Arrow or TBD
Reports to:  VP – Treasury                                                     Closing Date:  Open until filled.
Grade:  Grade and Salary commensurate w/experience

Summary:  The Participation Loan Accountant is responsible for the operations of cash flow function and the funds transfer pricing function for the Capital Markets/Agribusiness portfolio.  The position also assists in communicating the daily rate activity and assists with pricing all loans.

Position Responsibilities: 
Capital Markets/Agribusiness Cash Flow
  • Coordinates participation accounting function by receiving and organizing in date order all notices that require accounting action.
  • Evaluates payment/advance notifications received and applies in Teller.
  • Verifies ending loan balances.
  • Ensures rates/interest accruals for our Association match the Transaction Lead we purchased the loan from.
  • Sets up and books new participation purchased and sold loans.
  • Settles all cash flows for participation loans via wire or direct note transfer.
  • Completes and files daily participation actions & notices into Egnyte and OnBase
  • Researches and corrects General Ledger entries/balances.
Capital Markets/Agribusiness Verification Reports
  • Monitors and reviews accuracy of existing participation portfolio to ensure loan terms are correct including but not limited to maturity dates, risk ratings, UCS code, similar entity, patronage, SAN #’s, Vintage Year, undisbursed commitments, etc.
  • Checks for delinquent bill records and completes month end maintenance.
  • Track and amortize premium and discount fees.
  • Ensures that SFAS Fees are in balance.
  • Researches and alleviates participation portfolio issues.
Pricing
  • Reprices (funds transfer pricing) all participation tranches when they become mature.
  • Checks prepayment quotes and penalties for all loan prepayments and conversions
  • Quotes and monitors forward lock pricing.
  • Monitors and communicates the daily/monthly loan rates for the Association.
  • Assists lending officers with special priced loans and quote cost of funds for potential loan bookings.
  • Monitors EPAP Pools for the Association
  • Monitors the CoBank Treasury Portal for any fees charged to the Association.
Credit Collaboration
  • Assists in Capital Markets/Agribusiness credit decisions by:
    • Analyzing pricing, loan structure and impact of upfront/discount/premium fees
    • Participating in Capital Markets/Agribusiness communications with Transaction Lead
Support
  • Provides support to VP-Treasury, the VP – Capital Markets and the Chief Lending Officer in completing projects and assisting in reporting.
    • Assists in completing the monthly bank reconcilement for the Corporate A/P account to determine if any corporate checks are within the signatory authorities and verify that the account is in balance.
    • Verifying proper collateral for core loan portfolio on the annual note inventory project
    • Reviewing specific Capital Markets/Agribusiness loan terms or proposed changes to current processes and making a recommendation if there are more efficient processes.
Association Representation
  • Represents the Association in various activities related to CoBank, AgCountry Commercial Finance Group, Farm Credit Capital Group, and various other participation partners.
  • Attends meetings, joins conference calls and provides feedback.
  • Completes required trainings.
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, agricultural economics, agribusiness, or equivalent. 
  • 1 year of experience in loan accounting, financial analysis, or related field.  Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and methods
  • Knowledge of Word/Excel/ Outlook sufficient to create, update and save basic documents.
  • General knowledge of credit and economic principles
  • Skill in analyzing financial statements and reports.
  • Skill in applying processes and procedures to factual data to make a logical decision.
  • Skill in working in a team environment and independently on projects.
  • Skill in focusing and concentrating on details and organization.
  • Skill in processing and analyzing complex, detailed forms, and documents in an accurate and thorough manner.
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor, and management team.
