Job Description - Parts Buffer and Polisher

Finisher / Buffing & Polishing:

The role of a finisher is to inspect painted parts for defects and non-conforming issues within the paint and clearcoat finishes to determine if they are repairable with buffing and polishing methods, or if the part needs to be reworked by the paint team. If the part is repairable by a finisher, then small hand tools are used to sand the defect out of the clear coat film. Those scratches are then repaired with liquid compound and small orbital hand tools, to eliminate the defect to meet the cosmetic standard established by the customer. Finishers are only able to repair defects within the clearcoat film. Parts determined to have paint-related defects will be quarantined by the finisher for further inspection by other team members.
