Job Description - Parts Specialist

Job description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Parts Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the procurement, inventory, and distribution of automotive parts and supplies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of supply chain management, automotive diagnostics, and warehouse operations. Your expertise will ensure that our service department runs efficiently and that our customers receive the highest level of service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sourcing and procurement of automotive parts and supplies to meet operational needs.

  • Oversee inventory management, including tracking stock levels, conducting regular audits, and maintaining accurate records in the ERP system.

  • Utilize CMMS for effective maintenance scheduling and parts tracking.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.

  • Ensure timely shipping and receiving of parts while maintaining compliance with quality standards.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting technicians and customers with parts inquiries and order management.

  • Utilize automotive knowledge to assist in diagnostics and recommend appropriate parts for repairs.

  • Maintain organized warehouse operations to facilitate efficient picking, packing, and shipping processes.

  • Support demand planning efforts by analyzing usage trends and forecasting future needs.

  • Assist in training new staff on inventory control processes and best practices.

Job requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience in supply chain management, particularly within the automotive industry.

  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems and order management systems (e.g., AS400).

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive repair or service environments.

  • Background in procurement management or supplier management is highly desirable.

  • Experience with logistics, shipping & receiving processes, and inventory control methods.

  • Proficiency in data entry with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory records.

  • Prior dealership experience or familiarity with OEM parts is a plus.
