Job Description - Parts Warehouse Support (Picker & Driver) - Professional Development Opportunities

We are on the lookout for an energetic Parts Warehouse Support (Picker & Driver) to join our multidisciplinary team at Freightliner of Savannah in Port Wentworth, GA.

Salary: 16.00

Job Objective: Work with the parts sales team to serve as a parts picker and/or delivery driver 
based on changing conditions and customer demand. Train as a warehouse parts picker with
possibility of also being assigned a company delivery vehicle and routes based on sales volume and
customer needs.


Receive and sort sales invoices and pick tickets by delivery and will call categories. Accurately
pull parts from the warehouse to stage for will call, local delivery, and long-distance delivery.


Be able to identify and manage priority tasks in assigned focus areas. Ensure parts are pulled
accurately and any discrepancies are communicated immediately. Be reachable by radio at all times
while inside the dealership Safely and efficiently drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver
parts and represent the company in a professional manner.


Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F


Reports to: Warehouse Manager


Core tasks for which this job is responsible:


Parts Support (Picker)
• Monitor parts printer in assigned area(s). Sort and place pick tickets and invoices in
appropriate bins based on local delivery, long distance, will call, etc.
• Identify priority pick tickets and invoices based on established guidelines (separate
document).
• Accurately identify and pull correct parts and quantities.
• Place pulled parts in correct staging areas based on information on pick tickets or as directed
by supported sales team. Staging areas include:
• Will call shelves.
• Local delivery shelves.
• UPS/FedEX shipping area.
• Return pick tickets or invoices to applicable salesperson with parts status so final invoicing
or corrections can be completed.
• Be familiar with all Showroom parts and warehouse locations.
• Return unsold/returned parts to correct warehouse locations when applicable.
• Our Company is an Elite Support Dealer for Daimler. Assist in ensuring the Department meets all
Elite Support standards.
• Complete all assigned ARC training.
• Apply the 5S process and mindset to all assigned areas and tasks.

 

Parts Pickup and Delivery
• Available to be assigned to either local or long-distance routes, or a combination of both, at
the discretion of the department management based on customer demand.
• Greet and treat each customer and vendor with whom you come in contact in a professional,
friendly manner.
• Pick up and deliver parts in the dealership’s assigned area quickly, safely, and efficiently per
dispatch instructions.
• Work as part of an integrated team with parts salespeople, parts pickers, fellow delivery
drivers, and management.


When assigned to local routes:
• Retrieve parts and accompanying invoices from the local delivery shelves.
• Check in with Outside Parts Sales (OPS) prior to departing on each delivery run.
• Check the OPS printer and invoice sorting area for pick tickets/parts that may need to be pulled
for customers on your route.
• Update local delivery whiteboard with destinations and departure time.


When assigned to long distance routes:
• Coordinate with OPS to pull parts from pick tickets or invoices.

• Coordinate with local delivery drivers if returning to the dealership before close of business
to assist with any remaining local deliveries.
• Load or unload delivery vehicles.
• Keep delivery vehicles clean, as well as report any mechanical or safety issues to the assistant
manager.
• Process returned parts and cores appropriately upon returning to the dealership.
• Perform weekly vehicle inspections and turn in inspection forms to the Assistant Parts Manager.


As Needed:
• During times of personnel shortages, be prepared to be reassigned to warehouse support or to
support other sections outside of what is established this job scope.
• Assist Inventory Control Manager with cycle counting inventory. Overtime may be made available
to conduct cycle counting.
• Assist with any other department task you are qualified to perform if directed by management.
Special tasks for which this job is responsible:
• Special projects on an as needed basis. Decision authority needed to accomplish
objective:
• Determine the safeness of roads and highways in order to make the best decisions regarding
drivability.
• Determine the safeness of company vehicles and make safe decisions pertaining to drivability.

• Pull parts quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
• Always be aware of priority tasks and be able to flow from one task to another with minimal or
no direction from others.
• Perform all tasks in a safe manner using appropriate PPE and equipment correctly (e.g., gloves,
forklifts, dollies, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Earn the trust of each teammate.
• Safety and driving record
• Accuracy and timeliness of parts deliveries and pick-ups
• Condition and cleanliness of company vehicle to which you are assigned
• Teamwork and willingness to assist team members when appropriate

• Adherence to company policies

 

Minimum desirable entry level requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects (50-100 pounds).
• Ability to maintain a fast pace for extended periods of time.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Forklift certification or ability to become forklift certified
• Basic knowledge of local streets and roads
