The full-time Pastor of Careis responsible for providing pastoral oversight of the care needs for Grace Community Church. The Pastor of Care will triage care needs, empower lay leaders and lead our various care ministries, oversee benevolence, and collaborate with other pastors, elders, and staff to ensure care remains healthy, coordinated and effective.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversight of Care Ministries
Coordinate the immediate triage of care needs across the church (community groups, benevolence, pastors, staff, serving teams, etc.)
Equip and empower lay leaders and staff to effectively carry out ministries of care.
Resource ministry leaders with tools for recognizing and responding to emotional, relational, and spiritual needs.
Lead and grow the Care Team.
Work with the Director of Counseling to lead Griefshare, DivorceCare, and Stephen ministries.
Oversight of Benevolence
Lead the Benevolence Team in reviewing and responding to requests for financial assistancewithin the church’s benevolence policy and procedures.
Partner with outside organizations (e.g., Community Action Council, local nonprofits) when appropriate to ensure holistic care.
Pastoral & Leadership Presence
Provide oversight to the Director of Counselingin responding tothe counseling needs at Grace Community Church.
Schedule and provide support for Pastor-On-Call rotations.
Lead the Care & Counseling Administrative Coordinator.
Provide pastoral counseling as needed.
Collaborate with pastors/elders to provide spiritual care, prayer, and shepherding towards whole-person discipleship.
Perform general pastoral and care duties as needed (visitations, counseling, weddings, etc.)
Be a consistent and visible presence on Sunday mornings connecting with people and welcoming them.
Teach in small and medium-sized settings as required.
COMPETENCIES
Graduate degree from an accredited seminary preferred (M.A. or M.Div in biblical/theological or pastoral studies); In the absence of a theological degree, a pastoral/ministerial license or official ordination is .
Proven ability to train and equip others for ministry.
Collaborative spirit, eager to foster unity across teams.
Demonstrates a pastoral heart, expressed by compassion, encouragement, and spiritual wisdom.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pastoral care, pastoral counseling, or overseeing congregational care within a church setting.
Formal training in biblical counseling, pastoral counseling, or related field preferred but not .
Alignment with Grace Community Church’s theological convictions and philosophy of ministry, including, but not limited to Gospel-centered and Emotionally Healthy Discipleship; convictions around God’s vision for ethnic unity.
Able to use technology with ease and competence, knowing you will be more effective in ministry and collaborating with teams as you do.
SCHEDULE
1x Per Week Each– Meet with Executive Pastor/Attend the weekly All Staff Meetings on Tuesday mornings /Attend the weekly All Staff Prayer Pause /On-site on Sunday for all gatherings
1x Per Year – Participate in the All-Staff Retreat
Rotational – Pastor On-Call
Christmas Eve + Easter Sunday Gatherings
As needed – Initiate/attend project specific meetings

Reports to: Executive Pastor
Works closely with: Pastoral Team, Elders, Care & Benevolence Teams, Care Ministry Leaders and Community Group Leaders
Oversees: Admin Coordinator, Counseling Directorand lay leaders in counseling/care-related ministries
