Position Overview 

The Pastoral Care Director provides leadership to the Pastoral Care Team as they serve the church through counseling, hospital visits, funerals, weddings, and acts of benevolence. This role also provides vision and oversight for the Prison Ministry, ensuring that the care and spiritual needs of members and the community are met with compassion and excellence.
 
Essential Job Functions 
  • Oversee the pastoral care team, providing care, communication, coaching, and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate counseling appointments and ensure timely scheduling.
  • Facilitate team meetings to address pastoral concerns and provide support.
  • Coordinate funeral arrangements, including communication with families, staff, and funeral homes (with assistance from a volunteer coordinator).
  • Respond to hospital visits and death notices promptly.
  • Lead and participate in hospital visits, funerals, weddings, and other significant life events.
  • Monitor emergency lines and respond to urgent requests.
  • Provide guidance on acts of benevolence in alignment with church policies.
  • Cast vision and give direction to the Prison Ministry team.
Qualifications 
  • Pastoral and caring nature with a strong biblical foundation.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to connect with individuals in various life situations.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong listening skills, emotional stability, and organizational skills.
  • Education: No specific degree required; pastoral training or ministry experience preferred.
  • Experience: Previous pastoral care or ministry leadership experience preferred.
Leadership Responsibilities 
Oversees counselors, Prison Ministry leaders, and funeral/wedding coordinators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure ministry excellence and alignment with the church's mission.

Work Environment
This position involves work in the office, hospitals, and various HPC campuses. The role requires driving to different ministry locations as needed.

Success in this role will be reflected in the effectiveness and responsiveness of the Pastoral Care Team, the quality of pastoral support provided, and the growth and impact of the Prison Ministry.
