Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Job responsibilities include those listed in competency document.
  2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. 
  3. Receive, verify, and prepare specimens using correct technique and protocol.
  4. Perform examination of specimens through inspection by palpation and with the aid of instruments. Dictate account of all important findings from gross examination.
  5. Performs slide/specimen preparation and analysis for frozen section using appropriate procedure with precision and accuracy.
  6. Assists in maintaining supplies and reagents.
  7. Processes cytologic material.
  8. Serves as laboratory courier by picking up specimens from other areas of the hospital.
  9. Prepares materials that need to be sent to reference labs.
  10. Performs and records preventive maintenance and instrument function checks.

  11. Handles and disposes of all used specimens and collection material safely according to laboratory policy.
  12. Other projects as assigned 

     

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in chemical or biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or otherwise meeting regulatory requirements.
