Patient Access Coordinator/ Rehabilitation Registration FT Day

 Lake Butler Hospital is a critical access hospital in North Florida providing 24-hour emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, swing bed program, rehabilitation services, outpatient laboratory, and outpatient radiology (X-ray, ultrasound, and CT Scan) services to Union County and the surrounding counties. Job Summary:

Performs registration functions for patients being processed through the hospital outpatient services for Rehabilitation services. Completes all required paperwork to ensure appropriate financial arrangements and to allow treatment at the time of patient encounter. Performs required data entry relative to patient’s insurance verifications and follow-up. Implements necessary collection efforts, to include patient and insurance contacts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Receives patients for rehabilitation services,
2. Notifies appropriate staff of patient’s arrival.
3. Obtains demographic and payment information and ensures completion      of the Outpatient on CPSI to complete the registration process.
4. Register patients accurately and timely with pertinent information needed to facilitate preauthorization, eligibility and benefits.
5. Maintain complex schedules while ensuring that all patients are scheduled with the appropriate evaluation type and provider, as well scheduling all follow up appointments. 
6. Collect and scan identification and insurance card’s along with all intake paperwork and referral from physician upon the first visit.
7. Performs authorizations for future visits.
8. Completes all other necessary paperwork as required (i.e., Promissory Note, Financial Assessment, Billing Policies, Notifying of Privacy Practices, Informed Consent, Financial Disclosure, Assignment of Benefits, Work-Comp First Visit, Work-Comp Fraudulent Statement, Patient Information Sheet, HCRA Application and Financial Agreement).
9. Responsible for making sure that all paperwork is signed or initialed by the patient and witnessed.
10. Maintains confidentiality and privacy, which is consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
11. Provides cross coverage for other PAC’s as needed.

Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: 1 year experience related to medical/hospital setting required. Insurance and over the counter collections experience preferred. Rehabilitation experience strongly preferred.

Skills: Excellent grammar and communication skills. Strong customer service skills.

Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Abilities: Accurate, mature, flexible person who is meticulous to detail. Self-starter. Displays responsibility to confidentiality aspects of medical/financial information. Pleasant attitude in dealing with the public and various levels of staff. Ability to type 45 wpm, use a 10-key calculator. Ability to read and understand the benefits for all insurances.
