Description

The Patient Access Supervisor for BHC emergency room departments is to provide superior quality, competitive value, outstanding customer service, and ensure the most efficient processes are followed to meet regulatory requirements and to meet industry standards for Access; as well as meeting goals established by Baptist Health Care. The supervisor will travel between both the Baptist and Gulf Breeze campuses supporting the emergency registration representatives. They will ensure daily cash logs and deposits are created in line with corporate policy. As a supervisor responsibilities will include hiring, training, and coaching registration representatives. The Emergency Services Access supervisor will ensure those daily processes are carried out as defined by corporate leadership and management with the team. The supervisor is responsible to follow all registration and admitting policies and procedures. This position acts as a resource in providing all customers with the highest level of service. The supervisor enhances the hospital experience for patients, families and visitors by providing appropriate hospitality and concierge services



Responsibilities
  • Understands all regulatory agency requirements (i.e. Regulatory agency, HIPPA, EMTALA, OIG, and CMS ect.) and ensures deployment and compliance of regulatory requirements to staff.
  • Ensure PAS Registration staff participates fully with Patient Access Staff Registration program to consolidate pre-registration certification/authorization, scheduling, financial counseling and other process to ensure customers have efficient and convenient access to health care services.
  • Ensure staff follows self-pay protocols with referring patients for financial counseling and Medicaid eligibility process.
  • Ensure to meet industry standards for registrations and POS Collections, plus continually measured for monthly dashboard.
  • Maintaining Baptist Health Care goals of registration accuracy, insurance verification, pre-registration, pre-certification, up-front collections, and other healthcare industry standards or trends in which Patient Access Services metrics of measurement are based.
  • Responsible for reconciling daily, weekly and monthly patient access reports (i.e. daily census report, accuracy report, time and attendance, trending reports) and submits reports to PAS Director and or Corporate Patient Access Service Director.
  • Responsible to maintain a competent, highly trained staff and ensure a high level of accuracy and completeness from registration, financial clearance process, through discharge.
  • Serves as a resource person in problem identification and solving and effectively interacts with ancillary departments, patients, physicians, patient financial services, case management, and their staff.
  • Develop with Core Trainer and maintain an effective training program that will ensure all staff is sufficiently prepared to perform their duties.
  • Supervises team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards. Ensure training for new hires and retraining on any system upgrades or enhancements is completed within timeframe assigned. Ensure sufficient staffing and other resources are available and scheduled to meet customer demands (Patients, Physicians, and Service Line Leaders).
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
  • Is responsible for the department’s operational excellence and ensures that the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.


 



Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required


Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years related professional experience Required
  • supervisory experience or leadership role in health care revenue cycle function Preferred
