JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Patient Access Team Lead will provide initial training and proficiency of all new Customer Service or Registration staff in all managed areas, including verification of benefits, insurance, and payment collection, in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast paced and dynamic environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of high school.
Formal Training: Must demonstrate thorough work experience and a working knowledge of effective communication with the public, including accepting both praise and criticism and the ability to turn negative communication into a positive outcome for the public or customer. Must be able to meet and deal with people of all walks of life favorably and communicate positively and objectively with all people. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop a plan of work and execute the plan through completion in a timely and effective manner. Must demonstrate the ability to be organized and follow through on all tasks.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Will be required to attain HomeTown Health Certification in Patient Access Representative, Financial Counseling, Insurance Billing Specialist, and Insurance Billing Certification within 90 days of appointment.
Work Experience: Requires 12 months of satisfactory work performance experience as a Financial Counselor at Effingham Health System. Prefer intermediate computer skills with Microsoft word and excel spreadsheet capabilities.
