History:

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.  

Position Responsibilities

To be successful as a Nutrition Aide/Patient Ambassador, The Aide must be detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally and must be a team player who works well with others. The Aide consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to drive the Company's Purpose, Vision, Values, and Mission. Ability to follow directions, follow time schedules. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Has a general   knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Diets. Has general knowledge of Health/food code locally and state and perform general cleaning to all areas of the kitchen. Stock all patient nourishment areas. The Patient Ambassador is responsible for providing nutritional care to patients by spending quality patient time assisting in menu selection when necessary, providing patient meal delivery and patient set-up with direct patient contact, receiving and processing phone orders as required. The Patient Ambassador makes meal rounds and collects survey information. They will update the food preference and nourishment information and relay pertinent information to the Nutrition Services Director.  

Requirements

Position Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• Must have a Serv Safe Food Handlers Certification prior or within 30 days of hire.
• At least one (1) year of experience in a hospital setting. 
• Bilingual a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

• High potential for exposure to blood or body fluids Personal Protective equipment required for at-risk procedures. Exposure to risk in the form of disease, radiation, and disoriented and/or combative patients. May be requested to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations which are considered emergent.
