PATIENT CARE TECH - CRITICAL CARE

Position: Patient Care Tech \nDepartment: Critical Care Unit \nShift: 7:00pm-7:30am Full Time Days, 36 hours a week, 72 hours per pay period \nFacility: Atrium Medical Center \n \nThey collaborate with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They can:\n\n * Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.\n * Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.\n * Collect samples like urine.\n * Report any changes in a patient\u0027s condition to a nurse.\n * Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; Vitals\n\n\n\nThe PCT works under the supervision of a nurse, who ensures they are performing tasks safely and correctly. Sometimes, the PCT may also be referred to as a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC). Like HUC, they assist with the paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly, which also helps patients receive the best care possible.\n\nSo, even though PCTs don\u0027t wear capes, they are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and recover their health.\n\nEducation: You\u0027ll need a high school diploma or GED. \n\n \n\nTraining: you\u0027ll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don\u2019t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation too (so you don\u0027t need to do it beforehand). \n\n \n\nExperience: No previous job experience is required, but you should have one of the following: \n\n * Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training. \n\n\n\n\n * Helped care for patients in the past 5 years (like taking their temperature, bathing them, or helping them use the restroom) \n\n\n\n\n * Currently in nursing school and finished one clinical rotation. \n\n\n\n\n \n\nOther Skills: \n\n * You can handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice. \n\n\n\n\n * You know how to use a computer. \n\n\n\n\n * You\u0027re good at organizing things. \n\n\n\n\n * You can talk and listen well to others. \n\n\n\n\n * Bonus points: You\u0027ve worked in a hospital before. \n\n\n\n
