Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting nursing staff with basic care and assisting patients and their families through the surgical process.

Responsibilities

·         Serve as a personal contact, provide support and help to alleviate stress for families of surgical patients during the perioperative period;

·         Track the patient’s surgical journey and alert patient’s family of their status as applicable;

·         Observe patient’s condition and immediately communicate changes or concerns to the assigned RN or a supervisor;

·         Assist in transferring patients from bed to stretcher and vice versa as needed;

·         Follow emergency procedures including use of CPR if necessary;

·         Escort patients out of the building following discharge;

·         Stock department equipment and supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Certifications/Education

o   High School Diploma/GED;

·         Experience:

o   Performing customer service duties.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience providing patient care.
