Job Description
SUMMARY
South Texas College is a comprehensive institution, which places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. Lecturers are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the College.
Note: Lecturer are employed on as needed basis for a semester or one (1) year with no expectation of continued employment or property rights beyond the assignment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Mastery of Subject Matter:*Prepares and submits First Week Financial Aid Attendance Rosters, Census Rosters, and Learning Outcome Data, by the respective deadlines each semester

1. Must possess appropriate academic preparation
2. Must be able to provide official transcripts and/if transcripts are earned from a foreign teaching institution, then must be able to provide an evaluation indicating that this education is equivalent to or beyond the qualifications required. This evaluation must be from an approved evaluation service.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Applicant must meet the STC credential requirements as per Board Policy DBA — Employment Requirements and Restrictions: Credentials and Records located at https://pol.tasb.org/PolicyOnline/PolicyDetails?key=632&code=DBA#localTabContent
*Associate Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution required;
*Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred;
* Current Texas license as a Registered Nurse required.
*Minimum of one year documented nursing experience in a (LTC) nursing home facility preferred;
*Community college teaching experience in discipline preferred;
*Completed coursework for teaching adults or experience in teaching adults required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
*Current National Certification in Phlebotomy preferred.
*Current National Certification in EKG preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, class assignments and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to students and respond to questions from individuals as well as groups of students and chairs/directors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters whileperforming the essential functions of this job. Faculty may be to teach at any of the College’s campuses or teaching sites during time periods that fall outside 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and/or dual credit courses at high schools throughout the College’s service area.
