Patient Financial Services Eligibility and Benefits Specialist

requires experience working with insurance companies and have extensive knowledge of different types of coverage and policies. Candidate must have excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to work on many projects at once. Candidate must be very detail-oriented and organized, to maintain accurate patient insurance records. It's important that applicants have the ability to focus and work quickly, as insurance verifications need to be processed in a timely manner. Candidate also must work well with others, as they work as part of a health care team, striving to provide patients with the best care possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services.
This position will work closely with the Team Lead to evaluate and rectify verification issues.
Research systems to provide updated demographic information for insurance and patient verification.
Verify insurance eligibility for medical insurances for upcoming appointments by utilizing online websites or by contacting the carriers directly.
Review patient deductibles and/or copays and enter into the billing system provided to the front-end department at all locations.
Assist front end staff and call center staff in understanding carrier websites and verification of eligibility.
Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
Participates in educational activities and attends weekly staff meetings.
Assists in the development and communication of SOP for key areas to improve accuracy and understanding of processes.
Provide training and quality assurance feedback to PFS reps, given by the manager.
Maintains the strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Executes New hire training.
Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services while providing excellent customer service.
Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment.
Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have High School diploma with three or more years of experience. Must have knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Medical Billing is a plus. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.

Experience :

Prior Insurance Verification experience in a medical office, 3+ years preferred.
Customer service experience.
Prior CPT Code knowledge in Radiology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking.

Business Casual or scrubs dependent on department
