Job Description - Patient Scheduling Associate I



Full-time


Description

Responsible for scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling of patient exams for multiple imaging center locations by collecting and processing accurate patient demographics and clinical information in accordance with Radiology Associates of Hartford protocol pertinent to the requested exam. Responsibilities are performed via phone and computer in a call center setting with a high volume of daily calls and fax requests from patients and/or referring physician offices. Performs other related duties with the job classification or organizations as necessary or as assigned by management.  

Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Onsite: 9 Cranbrook Boulevard

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Accept a high volume of inbound calls and schedule patient exams according to physician RX orders with the ability to balance scheduling priority and patient need aligned with RAH policy, scheduling guidelines and medical appropriateness while ensuring accuracy in a timely manner. 

· Complete outbound calls to schedule patient exams when a RX is received on unscheduled patients aligned with RAH policy, scheduling guidelines and medical appropriateness while ensuring accuracy in a timely manner. 

· Follow up on all patient and referring physician inquiries. 

· Respond to all calls with courtesy and professionalism. 

· Consult with referring physician offices to ensure written and/or electronic orders (RX) exist and obtain them as needed; verify completeness of RX once written or electronic RX is received. 

· Manage and escalate priority issues; route calls and questions to appropriate resources. 

· Communicate relevant information to the scheduling team lead, supervisor and/or management to maintain continuity of care. 

· Assure that patient rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, and civil rights are maintained. 

· Maintain confidentiality of all classified and sensitive information and records, including patient care information by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). 

· Attend and participate in seminars, in-service educational classes, staff meetings and on-the-job training programs as required.  

· Work and manage outbound work queues 

· Maintain and optimize existing schedules daily 

· Provide job-shadowing, including answering questions, as needed 

· All other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

. Required: Proven track record of accurate and efficient work 

· Required: Computer experience and ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

· Required: High School Diploma or GED 

· Required: Medical Terminology

· Preferred: Radiology Scheduling  

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position is based in a healthcare facility that provides patient care services in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. Employees may work in various clinical or administrative areas depending on their role.
