Job Description - Patient Service Rep II - Medical Groups

Position Summary: Greets, instructs, directs, schedules, registers, and performs check-in duties for patients. Serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. Responsible for coordinating all after-visit activities including: collection, review and update of all practice-specific forms, communicating of payment policies regarding amounts due for current services and prior balances, collection of payments, assistance with scheduling follow-up appointments and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform registration, check-in, and check-out for patient visits
  • Schedule follow-up visits, including labs, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
  • Collect co-pays
  • Call patients for notification of schedule changes

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, management, staff and other customers.
  • Exceptional customer service skills including the ability to use independent thinking, sound judgement, and creativity when resolving customer issues.
  • Ability to balance priorities and effectively handle challenging situations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort with computer technology and applications.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Previous health-care experience strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of insurance preferred
