Description
The Patient Service Representative I plays a vital role in facilitating patient care. This role primarily involves answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling patient appointments, and managing patient referrals. The Patient Service Representative I demonstrates professionalism and productivity while maintaining a positive interaction with our patients.

Responsibilities

Assists in patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all necessary forms are completed and signed.
Collects copayments and verifies insurance eligibility with an understanding of basic healthcare insurance benefits.
Updates patient demographic and insurance information in the CS-Link system accurately and timely.
Schedules and coordinates patient appointments under supervision. Maintains knowledge & understanding of scheduling protocols, guidelines & standard procedures. Ensures Patients are scheduled correctly by utilizing the appropriate visit types within CS-Link. Accommodates all scheduling requests, with an emphasis on customer service.
Assists in managing physician/provider schedules, handling patient/provider correspondence as directed.
Provides general administrative support, including answering phones, routing calls, and managing medical records.
Coordinates and manages patient referrals and authorizations, ensuring that patient interactions align with healthcare regulatory standards and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's best practices.
Participates in departmental huddles and staff meetings.
Contributes to maintaining a clean and safe environment in the reception and waiting areas.
Responsible for following CSMC and HIPAA confidentiality guidelines while performing all duties.

Qualifications
Education

High School Diploma/GED - minimum
Assoc. Degree/College Diploma - preferred

Experience

6 months Experience working with insurance companies and obtaining authorizations - preferred

Licenses and Certifications

No license or certification required
