Patient Service Specialist
Work schedule: Onsite Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Overall Purpose
The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for corresponding with patients, maintaining the organization of our office, and ensuring that our environment is welcoming, calm, and quiet for our patients and their families. We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and organized medical receptionist to join our growing healthcare team. In this role, you will work at the front desk of our medical office and provide assistance to our patients and other visitors.
Essential Functions
Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
Verify patient demographics and insurance information
Schedule appointments and follow-ups, manage cancellations and reschedules
Answer multi-line phone system and handle patient inquiries or direct them appropriately
Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, and managing medical records
Ensure waiting area is tidy and welcoming
Support back office staff and providers as needed
Work independently in various clinic environments with minimal supervision
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Contribute to clinic workflow efficiency and positive patient experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Friendly and compassionate disposition
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on importance
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records
Knowledge of medical terminology a plus
Experience
1+ years’ experience in healthcare related field
Familiarity with Athena or Cerner a plus
Education
High school diploma/GED requiredâ¯
Travel
Occasional travel may be required to cover at other P3 offices or clinics as directed by management
Pay Range: $18.00-22.00/hr depending on experience
