Job Description - Patient Services Representative Associate Bariatric

This is a benefit-eligible position.

The starting rate for this position is $16.20 per hour and varies based on experience.

Practice and Culture

Our office at 4100 Lake Drive is one of our larger offices in Grand Rapids. We have providers that flex to 6 other locations. We are fortunate with our culture, and everyone works to help each other out. Our staff can ask any provider any question and they will answer it. Our surgeons typically at the end of each office day go around and thank the staff for their assistance for that day. We typically engage in team events during the year and often included staff spouses/significant others. We have great survey scores and have a committee that works on belonging. We do education monthly on diversity at our staff meetings and overall, we have diverse groups of employees. Our team does recognize each other at staff meetings and through WOWs.

Job Summary

Provides clerical support to assist in the delivery of quality health care services.

Essential Functions

Serves as a concierge - greets and communicates with patients or visitors, including collecting payments and co-payments.

Performs clerical functions, including, but not limited to: answers telephone/switchboard; schedules routine patient appointments; orders supplies; generates no-show and recall letters; processes/sorts mail and produces end-of-day reports. May need to document patient phone call in EHR for call routing/resolution.

Performs patient registration and check-in: confirms patient demographic and insurance information; assists patients with kiosk registration. Performs patient check-out: schedules follow-up appointments or confirms future appointments.

Maintains patient medical records according to standards; uploads Right Fax documents into EPIC. Responsible for basic EMR/HER scanning.

Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.

Qualifications

Required High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Vocational/Technical One year certificate from college or technical school (based on Corewell Health entity and department).
