Description Under direct supervision, responsible for providing customer service to patients by scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorization, and providing telephone triage.
Responsibilities
Greets patients, verifies insurance coverage and eligibility, reviews new patient registration, obtains authorizations, assists in the collection of copays and enters new patient information.
Maintains medical and insurance referral records and prepares patient charts.
Ensures test results are filed.
Handles and answers all phone calls and transfers calls to the appropriate departments as needed.
Manages patient appointments according to the physician's schedules and/or protocols.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Detail oriented with the ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
