Job Description - Patient Transporter

Location:

Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center

Pay Rate:

Hourly - Hourly Plan, 15.00 USD Hourly

Work Shift:

Afternoon Shift (United States of America)

Job Description

Responsibilities

Patient Transporter

  • Wage: $15/hour

  • Full-time and part-time positions available

  • Day/Evening/Night shifts available

  • Background check, drug screen, and proof of employment eligibility required

  • Location: Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center

The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe, timely, and courteous transport of patients within the hospital facility. This role ensures patients are moved between rooms, departments, and diagnostic areas via bed, stretcher, or wheelchair while maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.

Qualifications:

1. Must be 18 years of age

2. Must pass a drug and background check

3. Must pass the internal Basic Life Support curriculum

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

  • Ability to push and maneuver hospital beds and equipment (50+ lbs force as required).

  • Ability to transport patients throughout a large facility for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely between hospital rooms, units, and departments (e.g., radiology, surgery, therapy, admissions, discharge areas.

  • Verify patient identity and transport accordingly

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, visitors, nurses, and other staff.

  • Monitor patient condition during transport and report any concerns to nursing or clinical staff immediately

  • Ensure equipment (beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.) is clean, functional, and stored appropriately after each use.

  • Follow infection control policies and standards

  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA policies.

  • Respond promptly to transport tasks and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
