2 shifts one week
3 shifts the second week
Start time is flexible 7A, 8A, 9A, 10A
Rotating weekends
Holidays as needed.

Responsibilities
The Patient Escort is responsible for supporting the Mission and Vision of Ascension by under limited supervision, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, transports patients within the Hospital and other facilities.
Essential Functions
Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for patients. Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress.
Transport or escort patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed or ambulatory means at scheduled times, or as needed, to and from areas throughout the hospital for testing, treatment, and nursing unit transfers. Ensure patient safety and prevents injuries by using proper lifting techniques, and applying body mechanics principles. Log patients in and out of departments.
Clean and maintain transportation equipment on a daily basis to avoid injury to patients or hospital personnel.
Move beds, carts, and other hospital equipment. Return equipment to designated areas.
Deliver specimens, blood and blood products, patient charts, and other patient materials to hospital departments or other areas.
Check proper identification of patient before transport.
Promote guest relations; anticipates and responds to needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner; treat others with care respect, while maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity. Maintain a professional appearance and a clean, safe work environment.
Cooperate with all department personnel in a positive and professional manner.
Observe safety precautions; side rails up during transport, call light within reach, bed in lower position.
Non-Essential Functions:
Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to Dress Code Policy.
Perform special projects and duties as assigned.
This position requires the ability to identify age related differences within the persons served and the adjustment of treatment style and expectations as appropriate, including adjustments based on the person’s served cognitive function and learning ability. This will include taking into account their religious and cultural needs and preferences.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Successful completion of the Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support class at time of hire/transfer date required.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
