Job Description:
Participates in all aspects of resident care to ensure safe, efficient and therapeutic nursing care.
Acts a charge nurse to lead, guide, and direct nursing care of all nursing staff.
Attends weekly Medicare A and care plan meetings.
Participates in QAPI and Infection Control meetings monthly and PRN.
Participates with committees in writing and maintaining policy and procedure manuals and nursing service forms.
Keeps current in latest development by attending professional seminars, institutes and reading profession journals.
Formulates and reviews care plans and assures that care plan, medication and treatment record and nurses notes comply with physician’s orders.
Rounds with physicians monthly and PRN
Completes daily schedules and ensures enough staff is available to cover the hall.
Receives, monitors and follows through with any dietary recommendations made for the residents.
Provides education to staff as needed.
Works as medication nurse PRN.
Holds daily huddles with staff to maintain open communication.
Makes weekly rounds on residents and addresses any concerns and/or complaints.
Assists nurses with new admissions and readmissions.
Ensure staff has supplies needed to perform job duties.
Ensure weekly and monthly weights are completed.
Ensures staff is maintaining compliance with CMS regulations and is survey ready at all times.
Gives medications, including IV piggyback-diluted medications and IV push medications.
Starts IV as ordered.
Collects lab specimens and records PRN.
Charts medications or any other pertinent information about residents.
Identifies and helps in resolving problems within nursing service.
Dresses and administers medications on all type wound treatments PRN.
Maintain confidentiality at all time in accordance with Protected Health Information (PHI)
Education/ Qualifications:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Registered Nursing.
Holds a current State of Georgia License.
Experience:
Previous experience as a RN in a Long Term Care Facility preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
Employee is required to both sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Will be required to lift up to 100 lbs. Bending, stooping, are all frequently done in a workday. The ability to think and work under stress, to tolerate being subjected to frequent interruptions, and be will willing to work beyond normal working hours as necessary. Requires communication ability (speak, read, comprehend, and write)
Working Environment:
Works in a climate controlled setting. May be warm due to preference of residents in the long-term care facility.
Equipment:
Must be able to use Medical Equipment such as wheelchairs, beds, lifts, IV pumps, feeding pumps, suction machines, Oxygen concentrators, and thermometers. Stethoscope, and/or other medical equipment related to providing care to residents of nursing facilities.
