Paving Equipment Operator

Summary

Asphalt Surfacing Company is looking for a paving equipment operator experienced in microsurfacing paving. The Micro Surfacing Paver Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining specialized paving equipment used in the application of micro surfacing, slurry seal, and other road maintenance treatments. This role requires prior experience as an equipment operator and involves working with a team to ensure the efficient and high-quality application of surface treatments on highways, streets, and parking lots.

Responsbilites 

• Operate micro surfacing paver equipment, ensuring proper calibration and material application.


• Load, mix, and monitor the consistency of materials such as emulsions, aggregates, water, and additives.


• Inspect equipment before and after operation, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs as needed.


• Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure uniform application and adherence to project specifications.


• Coordinate with other crew members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to safety standards.


• Follow traffic control measures and safety guidelines while working on roadways.


• Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment maintenance.


• Assist with general labor tasks as needed, including cleanup and job site preparation.

Requirements 

To perform the essential functions of this position, individuals should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating micro surfacing pavers or similar road construction equipment.


• Strong knowledge of micro surfacing and slurry seal application techniques.


• Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.


• Understanding of job site safety protocols and traffic control procedures.


• Physical ability to work long hours in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)


• Experience in asphalt paving, road maintenance, or construction.


• Certification in equipment operation or road maintenance (if applicable).


• Ability to read and interpret job specifications and project plans.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.


• Requires standing, lifting, bending, and operating machinery for extended periods.


• Travel may be required for projects in different locations.
