Title: Payment Integrity Specialist (CPA Certified - PIIA Experience)

Location:  Washington, D.C. (Hybrid)
Clearance:  Public Trust
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance; the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
Number of Position(s): 1
Period of Performance: June 1st 2025 - October 31st 2025
Work Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm
Work Day:  Monday – Friday


Job Summary:

We seek a highly skilled Payment Integrity Specialist who is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with extensive experience in the Payment Integrity Information Act (PIIA) and federal financial compliance. This role may be dual-hatted, requiring project management and financial auditing expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing programs for improper payments, conducting statistical analyses, and developing corrective action plans to ensure compliance with PIIA and the Do Not Pay Initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate all programs and activities to identify those susceptible to significant improper payments.
  • Test cash disbursement processes, ensuring alignment with PIIA and Do Not Pay requirements.
  • Develop and execute methodologies to obtain a statistically valid estimate of annual improper payments.
  • Summarize findings, including annual improper payment amounts, rates, and reduction targets, for inclusion in the Performance and Accountability Report (PAR).
  • Design and implement corrective action plans to reduce improper payments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance internal controls and payment integrity measures.
  • Assess materiality for financial reporting by evaluating risks of errors or misstatements that could impact decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with federal financial regulations and audit standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • 5+ years of experience in federal financial compliance, with expertise in PIIA, Do Not Pay, and improper payment auditing.
  • Strong background in statistical sampling, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Experience with Performance and Accountability Reporting (PAR) preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, federal financial regulations, and internal controls.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with government agencies or federal contractors.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., ACL, IDEA, Tableau).
  • PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
