Position: Payment Processing Specialist

Location: Greenville, SC

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payment Processing Specialist to manage payment posting, financial transactions, and communication between our billing company, merchant services, and internal staff. The ideal candidate will have experience handling multiple types of payments, working with merchant and payor portals, and resolving patient financial inquiries.

Responsibilities will include:

• Receive and process physical payments, including:
• Insurance checks and credits
• Patient checks
• Cash payments
• Send statements of those payments and EOBs to the billing company
• Scan and provide notices from payors to the billing company
• Serve as the administrator for Merchant Services:
• Correspond with the provider
• Run weekly patient payment reports and provide to the billing company for posting
• Add or remove users from the merchant services portal
• Void erroneous charges
• Administer Care Credit accounts
• Issue patient refunds
• Serve as liaison between the billing company and internal staff
• Research and resolve patient financial inquiries/disputes not resolved by the billing company
• Maintain administrator access on all payor portals
• Bill and collect payments for Research Studies
• Approve and set up patient payment plans
• Audit billing for AHCA Medical Director Oversight Logs

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma required; some college preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payment processing, medical billing, or related financial services
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient with payment and insurance portals
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer systems
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear
• Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment abilities
• Use of hands to operate office equipment

• Adhere to a 90-day probation period with no missed days, tardiness, or early departures
• Demonstrate professionalism in handling sensitive financial information
