Payroll Accountant

Boise Cascade is seeking a Payroll Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting Department. Reporting to the Payroll Accounting Supervisor, this position plays a critical role in the Company’s payroll and corporate accounting operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 The responsibilities in this role may include the following types of activities:

• Prepare journal entries related to payroll processing, as well as miscellaneous monthly and quarterly HR accruals and allocations.


• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including tax filings, quarterly and year-end processing, and general ledger accounts, and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.


• Research and analyze data related to payroll taxes.

• Maintain accurate payroll records and generate reports for management and external vendors.

• Provide timely and professional customer service for payroll-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.


• Safeguard the confidentiality of all employee information and payroll records.


• Participate in various human resource projects requiring payroll data collection, analysis, and reporting.


• Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.


• Uphold a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental stewardship, and continuous process improvement.


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned within the Corporate Finance department.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a solid understanding of accounting principles.


• 1–2 years of experience in payroll accounting and/or corporate accounting.


• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.


• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.


• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners to solve problems and achieve results.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of payroll accounting principles and practices, including payroll tax compliance.


• Experience with multi-state payroll and tax filings.


• Familiarity with PeopleSoft (financial ERP) and UKG (payroll) systems.
