We’re hiring a Payroll Accountant to manage end-to-end payroll processing, tax compliance, and payroll accounting for client organizations.
In this role, you’ll ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, taxes are filed correctly, and payroll records remain clean, compliant, and audit-ready.

Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payrolls (50–500 employees)
Validate time entries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
Run payroll using:
ADP
Paychex
Gusto
QuickBooks Payroll
BambooHR
Journal Entries & Reconciliations
Post payroll entries into QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero
Reconcile payroll clearing accounts and bank statements
Record benefits, deductions, and employer contributions accurately
Tax & Compliance
Prepare and file payroll taxes (federal, state, local)
Submit required forms:
941, W-2, 1099, and state equivalents
Stay updated on U.S. payroll laws and compliance requirements
Benefits Administration
Reconcile healthcare, retirement, and benefit contributions
Ensure payroll deductions align with employee elections and policies
Employee Support
Respond to payroll inquiries (pay stubs, direct deposits, tax updates)
Support new hire payroll setup and onboarding
Reporting & Analysis
Generate payroll and headcount reports for HR and finance
Support audits with detailed payroll documentation
Provide variance analysis vs. payroll budget
Process Improvement
Improve workflows using Excel, integrations, or automation tools
Document and maintain payroll SOPs
Requirements
2+ years of experience in payroll processing
Hands-on experience with at least one system:
ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, or BambooHR
Intermediate proficiency in:
Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations)
Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll taxes and compliance
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to resolve discrepancies quickly and meet deadlines
Comfortable working remote aligned with U.S. time zones
Nice to Have
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
Experience with multi-state or international payroll
Experience reconciling payroll with accounting systems
Familiarity with HRIS/payroll integrations (BambooHR, Zenefits, Workday)
