Primary Responsibilities This role will be responsible for all day-to-day payroll activities, including end to end processing biweekly payrolls for employees in the US and Canada and a monthly expat/inpat payroll. This will include maintaining and auditing employee data, calculating pro-rated earnings, vacation/sick hours, termination payouts, and other items as required, as well as developing and/or running payroll reports, both scheduled and ad hoc. This role will require the ability to work autonomously, with solid knowledge of US and Canadian laws and regulations related to payroll execution. Essential Duties: Coordinate, produce and audit biweekly payrolls for the US and Canada locations, including off-cycle and supplemental payrolls, when appropriate Maintain and audit employee data in payroll and time and attendance systems Calculate and record all payroll adjustments in payroll batches, including pro-rated pay, termination payouts, bonuses, commissions, relocation, etc. Partner with our Total Rewards team, as well as our global mobility 3rd party vendor, to ensure proper payment and recording of expat and inpat payrolls Working with the Total Rewards team, coordinate the recording of RSU transactions within the payroll Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of payroll related reports requested by 3rd party vendors, Human Resources, Finance, Plant Leads/Supervisors, and other areas of the business Assists with troubleshooting timekeeping issues, first point of contact for employees and managers Lead the quarter-end and year-end process, including preparation, auditing, and filing of W2s, T4s, RL1s, and other related reporting and reconciliations Investigate questionable data and take corrective action when necessary Partner with key stakeholders (benefits, compensation, HRIS, HRBPs, etc.) to address business needs and issues proactively Provide support to employees at all levels and locations of the company with questions, problem resolution, etc., in a timely and professional manner Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and related policies Work with 3rd party payroll provider and governmental agencies on tax notices Assist with SOX testing Assist with other projects as needed, including global payroll related projects Minimum Requirements Required Qualifications: 5+ years multi-state and country (US & Canada) payroll experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance and procedures, including labor laws, employee standards, and statutory remittances in Canada (BC, ON, and QC), and across all states and localities of the US Knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local payroll laws Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions Strong organizational skill and attention to detail Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities Ability to work independently and on as part of a team – resourceful and self-starter Ability to work in a proactive, resourceful, and flexible manner Desired Qualifications: Prior exposure with Workday a plus Experience with managing tickets Experience with benefits and/or 401k a plus Experience with equity transactions a plus Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Axalta is committed to a diverse workforce. “Please note that Axalta Coating Systems will not accept any candidate profiles sent unrequested and unsolicited by recruiting agencies.
