LHH has partnered with an international Software company in their search for a Senior Payroll/Benefits Specialist. This person will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of US and Canadian payroll, as well as the coordination of all federal and state tax agencies and benefit providers reporting and filings. This role requires attention to detail, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, effective communication with employees, and expertise in managing year-end processing for payroll and benefits.
This is a fully remote direct hire role. Travel to their HQ for meetings will be required. Candidate must reside on the East Coast and will work EST.
Overview:
· Own the full cycle payroll processing for US and Canada
· Ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements and registration of new states withholding tax accounts.
· Administer and own all benefit carriers and retirement plan reporting and administration.
Responsible for:
Payroll Processing:
● Manage end to end processing payroll bi-weekly across US (over 15 states) and Canada
● Handle complex payroll calculations including benefits, salary adjustments, overtime, and deductions.
● Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues and perform monthly reconciliation for payroll registers against the GL.
Benefits Administration:
● Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans
● Ensure all filings and remittances to insurance providers are submitted timely
● Reconcile HSA/FSA accounts on a monthly basis
Year-End Processing:
● Prepare and reconcile W-2 and T4 forms for employees.
● Ensure accurate and timely submission of required year-end reports to government agencies.
● Coordinate with accounting to reconcile payroll-related accounts.
● Provide support for annual audits related to payroll and benefits.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
● Maintain accurate records of employee payroll and benefits information.
● Generate reports for management and other relevant stakeholders.
● Prepare and submit required reports to government agencies and insurance companies
● Work closely with ADP, Accounting, Tax, Commissions & other functions are required
Compliance:
● Stay informed about changes in payroll and benefits regulations.
● Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
● Support the payroll setup of new states and entities
Must Have Background:
· 5+ years of full cycle payroll experience
· Knowledge of both US and Canadian payroll processes (over 15 US states)
· Post secondary education in accounting, business administration or equivalent
