Job Description - Payroll and Tax Specialist

Description

Are you a payroll pro who loves accuracy, compliance, and clean data? Larry H. Miller Senior Health is looking for a Payroll & Tax Specialist to support full-cycle payroll operations, manage payroll tax accounts, and help keep our payroll systems accurate, compliant, and running smoothly. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Support full-cycle payroll processing, including off-cycle adjustments
  • Process employee changes (new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, garnishments)
  • Validate payroll data before submission to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain employee records in the HRIS, including tax setups and job data
  • Manage payroll tax accounts, registrations, filings, and reconciliations
  • Respond to payroll tax notices and coordinate resolutions with vendors
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Assist with process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and tax information

Requirements

 What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4 years of payroll processing and payroll tax experience
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance
  • Experience maintaining employee data in an HRIS
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, Workday, UKG Smartlinx, or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Intermediate Excel skills 

Nice to Have

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
  • Multi-state payroll tax experience
  • Experience supporting audits or resolving tax notices
  • CPP certification (or working toward it)
