Job Description - Payroll Clerk



Payroll Clerk


Seeking a qualified individual with experience to process in house employee payroll, remit weekly, quarterly, annual taxes, manages employee benefits and various other accounting duties


Responsibilities Include:



  • Process new hires in DMS, Timekeeping, Payroll system

  • Process multi state weekly & monthly payroll using in house system.

  • Compile & process payroll data such as vacation time, garnishments, benefit deductions, 401K

  • Remit weekly, quarterly and annual taxes to State and Federal Government as required by law,
    including W-2’s

  • Manage employee Benefits. Providing benefit orientation & enrollment.

  • Update payroll records by entering changes in address, exemptions, insurance coverage
    deductions, 401K, etc.

  • Maintain records for employee time off, vacations, sick days.

  • Manage workers comp claims, hearings, unemployment claims, verification of employment, etc

  • Manage employee time clock system & attendance software.

  • Reconcile monthly & annual 401K deductions and remit to vendor.

  • Process payable checks as required.

  • Prepare accounting transactions into general ledge as required

  • Provide support to analyze, research and resolve problems and errors within the system

  • Provide support for payroll reporting; compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions and
    insurance. Additional reporting as directed by manager.

  • Process employee termination papers including Cobra documents

  • Balance and reconcile accounts including bank statements

  • Keep abreast and maintain working knowledge of all HR and Payroll policies and procedures


Skills/Qualifications



  • Prior payroll processing experience is mandatory.

  • Ability to analyze and research problems

  • Strong organization and communication skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Understands the importance of working with a high level of confidentiality and integrity

  • Ability to exercise a moderate amount of independent judgement
