JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Payroll Manager

LOCATION: Auburn Hills, Michigan 48326

OBJECTIVE

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of union employee payroll for all US work locations while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements. This is an in-office position.

PAYROLL MANAGER KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Oversee and assist in weekly union payroll process for multiple states and various unions in a timely and accurate manner


• Review payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and make any necessary adjustments


• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee payroll files


• Update union pay scales as necessary


• Ensure accuracy of union benefit contributions


• Prepare various payroll and management reports, journal entries, workers compensation, and reconcile quarterly payroll taxes


• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll taxes/940/941


• Oversee accuracy of all garnishments and deductions


• Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters


• Certify payroll


• Manage direct report(s)


• Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  

PAYROLL MANAGER CORE COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Union payroll experience required


• Good working knowledge of CBA rules, regulations, and prevailing wages


• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality


• Ability to multi-task and work in high pressure environment


• Strong organizational skills and very detail-oriented

Preferred:

• Construction industry experience highly preferred


• In-house payroll processing preferred
