Job Summary: Our client is seeking a motivated Payroll Manager to join their team! The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance for a workforce of 2,500+ employees. This role requires a high level of expertise in managing complex payroll processes across multiple states and entities. The Payroll Manager will lead a team to ensure that all aspects of payroll are processed correctly and efficiently, including compensation, benefits, deductions, and compliance with federal and state laws.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the complete payroll processing cycle for a large, multi-state workforce, including both hourly and salaried employees Ensure accuracy and compliance in the payroll process, including the reconciliation of payroll data, validation of reports, and adherence to tax laws and employment regulations Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy Lead, train, and mentor payroll staff, fostering a team-oriented environment Liaise with senior management, HR, and finance departments to align payroll management with overall company policies and objectives Manage payroll for new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, status changes, and benefits deductions, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards Oversee the administration of payroll-related benefits, garnishments, and direct deposits Respond to complex payroll inquiries, providing guidance and solutions to both internal and external stakeholders Collaborate with external payroll service providers to resolve issues and ensure seamless payroll operations Prepare and review payroll reports and financial statements, providing insights to management Lead special projects and initiatives as directed by senior management Other special projects or tasks as assigned by the Controller, CFO or members of leadership
Desired Skills & Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in a large, multi-unit, multi-state organization. In-depth knowledge of payroll best practices and federal/state regulations. Proven experience in leading and managing a payroll team. Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with major payroll software systems, with a preference for experience in Paycom. Exceptional ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment. Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, accurate results Ability to work under deadline pressures while maintaining a positive work environment Demonstrate dependability, initiative, and accountability
