Job Description - Payroll Manager

Overview

TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a determined

Payroll Manager

in

San Jose, CA

to join our team.

The pay range for this position is $100,800.00 - $112,000.00 annually.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
Responsible for the accurate compensation of employees thru management and oversight of the payroll process.
Ensures computing, withholding, or deductions associated with net pay is compliant with current regulations.
May be responsible for tax reporting and transfer of funds to federal, state and local agencies as necessary.
Prepares and submits required forms associated with federal, state, and local requirements.
Prepares compensation by verifying time records; calculating and producing checks or electronic transfers, special pay requests and other ad hoc processing as required.
Updates records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, benefits, deductions, work status and paid-time-off recordkeeping
Fulfills wage garnishment requirements by completing forms; adjusting payroll records, documenting and transmitting withholdings; negotiating with collection agencies to convert garnishments to wage assignments.
Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments and system improvements.
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests of management and the workforce.
Establishes and maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business administration, finance, or accounting.
5+ years of experience in payroll processing
Knowledge of Federal, State and Local payroll laws and regulations
Experience with union collective bargaining agreements as they relate to pay processes and benefits.
Skilled at analyzing information, attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and thoroughness in completing tasks
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such Excel and Word, inventory software and the Internet.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Work primarily in an office environment.
Frequently sits for extended periods of time.
Frequently use a computer keyboard and office related equipment.
Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping or bending.
Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
