The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for hourly and salary non-exempt team members. This role requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional who takes ownership of payroll outcomes and proactively identifies and resolves issues. This individual will serve as a key partner to HR, operations, and finance—ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining compliance, and delivering clear, professional communication to employees and leadership. The role also serves as the designated backup for Corrigan OSB payroll operations, supporting continuity across locations.

Process scheduled payroll cycles for Oakdale OSB employees accurately and on time
Review and validate payroll inputs, including hours worked, overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, deductions, and special payments
Process basic employee changes (pay rates, tax updates, garnishments, deductions)
Respond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, deductions, direct deposit, and payroll timing
Audit payroll data and reconcile discrepancies prior to final processing
Analyze payroll results to identify trends, errors, or process improvement opportunities
Serve as backup for Corrigan OSB payroll processing as needed
Deliver timely, professional, and confidential customer service
Support internal controls and payroll documentation standards
Partner with HR, accounting, operations, and site leadership to ensure payroll accuracy
Assist with audits, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
Assist in the development and documentation of payroll procedures to ensure consistency and continuity within the department
Maintain a high level of knowledge of payroll systems and related tools
Support other locations’ payroll team with problem resolution and provide guidance on payroll best practices
Job Experience:
Experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms; Workday strongly preferred
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of payroll processing experience
Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and wage/hour requirements
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities
Must maintain availability aligned with bi-weekly payroll cycles, including timely completion of all required weekly payroll reporting and related deadlines
Preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
Experience supporting plant or hourly workforce payroll environments
Experience with timekeeping system integrations
