Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist works with the Payroll Coordinator to processes weekly payroll for a multi-state construction workforce - collecting and validating time, computing wages, and resolving discrepancies so employees are paid correctly and on time. This role sits on the corporate accounting/HR team and reports to the Payroll Manager.

Our corporate team supports the crews in the field — and payroll is one of the most visible ways we take care of them.
What You'll Do
Process weekly payroll including earnings, deductions, and taxes
Run accurate off-cycle payrolls as needed
Validate payroll data - time, pay rates, benefits, and job costing
Process garnishments, deductions, and benefit changes
Handle prevailing wage and fringe benefit calculations on public and federal work
Maintain employee payroll records and proper documentation
Support audits and compliance reporting
What You Bring
3+ years of payroll processing experience
Working knowledge of payroll tax and multi-state compliance requirements
Experience with prevailing wage and fringe benefits (construction or certified payroll a plus)
Strong Excel and data validation skills
Experience with payroll systems - ComputerEase and BambooHR preferred
Solid understanding of accounting practices and tax law
Detail-oriented - able to catch discrepancies and errors at a granular level
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to maintain confidential information
Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing needs
Valid driver's license
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily indoors, shared office environment
Ability to sit for prolonged periods working at a computer
Pass initial drug test and participate in random drug test program
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred
