Operate the hospital’s PBX telephone console and communication system
Provide basic information to callers, visitors, and patients
Acts in a professional manner at all times and knowledgeable of all departments in the facility
Respond to emergency codes and announcements (such as Code Blue, fire alarms, or disaster alerts) according to hospital procedures
Demonstrates the ability to be organized and flexible in stressful situations
Excellent customer service skills and performs other duties as assigned
Answer incoming calls to the hospital in a professional manner
Transfer calls to the appropriate departments, patient rooms, physicians, nurses, or staff members
Make overhead paging announcements when requested
Assist with other duties such as registering patients, etc.

Regulatory Requirements
Completes annual educational requirements within the assigned time frame
Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital
