TITLE:  PC Support Specialist 


SALARY & FLSA: $26.89 -$40.34 per hour; FLSA non-exempt 


The $26.89 hourly starting pay is structured to be competitive and may extend up to the $33.63 midpoint of the annual range, reflecting our commitment to offering competitive compensation to qualified candidates.

As our new PC Support Specialist II we know you will be successful in this role because you are: 



  • A Pro at Getting the Root of a Problem: Speaking with co-workers from all departments to help recognize, research, isolate, and resolve problems is something that excites you. Using your two or more years of experience, you are confident in your ability to answer questions, evaluate needs, and can prioritize requests made over the phone, email, and in-person regarding user experience problems. 

  • Enjoy Tracking Success: Preparing records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities, is a task you are ready to own.  

  • Happy to Share Your Expertise: You enjoy working with others and sharing your knowledge.  You are ready to share your knowledge with others through utilizing Help Desk software to respond to request tickets. You can confidently set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. You are excited to share your knowledge with the zoo and visit teams around our 92-acre facility to provide onsite support.  

  • A Problem Solver: Using your IT savvy, you can answer Help/Service Desk user inquiries regarding computer software, hardware, and AV operations to resolve problems. You can assist others by troubleshooting, installing, and performing minor repairs to hardware, software, AV or other peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications. 


  
 YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 



  • Answer Help/Service Desk user inquiries regarding computer software, hardware, and AV operations to resolve problems 

  • Troubleshoot, install, and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, AV or other peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications.  

  • Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities. 

  • Utilize the Help Desk software to respond to request tickets, assign tasks, and to escalate to other team members. 

  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. 

  • Maintain IT inventory for all hardware and software deployments 

  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.   

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


  


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 



  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English. 

  • A valid Washington State driver’s license.  

  • Ability to pass Electric Cart Certification Test. 


 


 QUALIFICATIONS 



  • High school diploma, and training in vocational school, related on-the-job experience, or an associate’s degree in related field. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in the operation, design and setup of basic computer hardware and software. 

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are required, including via email, phone, and other collaboration tools.  

  • Organizational skills and strong attention to detail. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS, platforms, as well as Microsoft Office 365 applications. 

  • Strong time management skills. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot, investigate issues, and determine next steps.  

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours without direct supervision. 

  • Commitment to the mission of the zoo and the institution’s Core Values. 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. 

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

  • Selected candidates must be in Washington State to perform this role. 

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS  



  • This position may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

  • This position may be required to move about the 92 acre facility to provide onsite support for various Zoo teams.
