Summary

The Electronics Assembler is one of the primary points of contact for Engineering teams to have prototype boards built, brought up, diagnosed, tested, and repaired. The candidate will work alone, and as part of a group, to accomplish the tasks assigned by the Electronics Lab Supervisor.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assemble and solder electronic components (resistors, capacitors, ICs, transformers) on PCBs
     
  • Operate equipment such as screen printers, placement machines, and reflow ovens
     
  • Perform hand soldering and rework on surface mount and through-hole components
     
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions
     
  • Conduct visual inspections and quality checks
     
  • Use tools like soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, cutters, and heat guns
     
  • Identify and troubleshoot production issues with your team
     
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in the Electronics Lab

Requirements

? What You Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in PCB assembly, soldering, or electromechanical builds
     
  • Ability to identify electronic components and interpret resistor color codes
     
  • Strong understanding of SMT, hand-soldering, and reflow techniques
     
  • Comfortable reading blueprints and technical documentation

Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Coordination- Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.

Active Learning- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Learning Strategies- Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

Time Management- Managing one's own time and the time of others.

Operation Monitoring- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Operation and Control- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

Complex Problem Solving- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Quality Control Analysis- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Problem Solving Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills- Basic personal computer skills

Educational/Experience Requirements

Preferred Associate degree in Electronic Assembler or a two-year technical degree/certificate in a related discipline

Required High school diploma and 2-5 years related experience and/or training; equivalent combination.

Working Hours

8:00AM – 5:00PM Monday through Friday, with one hour lunch

Working Conditions/Physical Demands of the Position

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those typical in an electronics lab/productive environment. Tool use is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, including the sounds of forklifts, tools, and machinery. Work is generally performed near moving mechanical parts. In some instances personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required in this work environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms all in a repetitive manner. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work performed will be working with mostly DC and minimal AC.
