Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated PCR Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting scientific research and laboratory operations. The Molecular Laboratory Technologist/Technician will perform high complexity molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, data analysis and interpretation of various infectious disease panels.
Responsibilities
· Review preliminary and final test results.
· Assist in resolution of technical problems in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
· Record, compile and maintain records according to laboratory policies to ensure state and federal regulations are upheld for all reagents, procedures, and equipment used in the testing process.
· Assist in the development, evaluation, and implementation of new procedures and protocols.
· Maintain patient confidentiality.
· Coordinate daily communications of laboratory with physicians and other parties.
· Participate in educational activities.
· Perform other related work as required
QUALIFICATIONS
· Doctoral, master’s, or bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics.
· Associate’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical lab technology.
· Educational equivalent to Associate’s degree with at least:
§ 60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical lab technology;
OR
§ 60 semester hours including 24 hours of science that includes 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours chemistry, biology, medical technology in any combination;
AND
§ 3 months training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed or completion of an approved department of Health and Human Services HHS lab training program (ABHES, CAHEA).
· Qualified as a technologist on or before Feb. 28 1992.
· On or before April. 24 1995: High school diploma or GED and:
§ Graduated from a HHS approved lab training program (ABHES, CAHEA);
OR
§ Completed a military lab 50 week training course.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 1-2 two years of experience in a molecular CLIA licensed clinical laboratory
· Medical Technologist board certification
· Good communication and critical thinking skills
· Must be able to demonstrate competency for all required diagnostic tests and other areas of assignment within 3 months of hire date
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
· Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals
