Job Description - Pediatric Attending Optometrist, Community Health Emphasis Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometr

Full-time

Description

The New England College of Optometry (NECO) invites applications to join the professional staff as an attending pediatric optometrist and clinical faculty member. We are seeking a non-tenure, clinical track faculty optometrist who has a keen interest in providing clinical care at the Martha Eliot Health Center and the Charles River Health Center, combined with laboratory teaching and/or vision screenings for a full-time faculty position. Join a dedicated and fun team at both Martha Eliot and Charles River Health in providing eye care for those who are less resourced in the greater Boston area.

The starting salary for this position is $110,000.

This person should have a desire to teach tomorrow’s optometrists the principles of optometric and interdisciplinary care.

Our mission is to improve the vision and eye health of populations through excellence in collaborative and community-oriented patient care, service, education, and research. A NECO optometrist is an exceptionally qualified doctor of optometry and clinician-educator who works in a dynamic team-oriented, multidisciplinary non-profit eye care network serving the vision and eye health needs of populations in greater Boston. Clinical attending optometrists are also faculty members that have teaching appointments with NECO, and thus advance both the service and teaching missions of the institution.

Requirements

  • Qualifications include an OD degree with TPA+ licensure (glaucoma and anti-infective privileges) in Massachusetts, advanced professional credentials such as residency training or equivalent clinical experience, appropriate credentials for a faculty appointment, and an active commitment to excellence in patient care and teaching.
  • In addition, a pediatric residency from an accredited institution is required.
  • Experience serving a diverse patient base and language skills other than English are preferred, but not required.

The start date for the position is July 1, 2026, pending licensure and credentialing for the assigned clinical site.

For inquiries and specific details, please contact Dr. Amy Moy ([email protected]).  Applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae and a cover letter and be prepared with references.

The College is an Equal Opportunity employer and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
