Pediatric Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position  
Location: Kansas City, MO 
Job Type: Travel Contract

Shift: 3x12s Nights
Pay: $2128/week  

Job Description:  

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Pediatric Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert care to children and adolescents facing a wide range of mental and behavioral health challenges. This crucial role involves therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and medication management in a secure and supportive environment. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of pediatric mental health, is skilled at de-escalation, and is dedicated to creating a safe space for young patients to heal and grow.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments, including mental status exams and risk assessments.


• Provide direct nursing care and administer medications, monitoring for therapeutic effects and side effects.


• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers.


• Utilize therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to manage patient behaviors and crises.


• Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and medication management.


• Maintain a safe and secure environment, adhering to all safety protocols and documentation standards.


• Advocate for the needs of pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare system.

Qualifications:  

• Active RN license in Missouri.


• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.


• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.


• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent Behavioral Health or Pediatric nursing experience.


• Strong knowledge of pediatric development and common mental health diagnoses.


• COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
