Job Description - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Position Title:

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse - 13- week

Estimated Pay Package: $2,000 (including stipend)

Job Description:

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse provides specialized and high-level care to critically ill infants and children. This role is essential in monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and monitor pediatric patients' conditions and vital signs continuously.
  • Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and treatments per physician orders.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Educate families on the child’s condition, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
  • Document patient care activities clearly and accurately in electronic health records.
  • Participate in emergency response situations and execute life-saving interventions as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control standards and patient safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Intensive Care or comparable critical care settings.
  • Current BLS and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications are required.
  • Strong assessment skills and the ability to respond rapidly in emergencies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, high-stress environment.
