KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality clinical support as needed to support efficient daily practice operations. This role requires flexibility, strong teamwork, and the ability to provide excellent patient care and customer service in a clinical setting.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Greets patients and prepares them for the provider’s examination by screening patient/parent for appropriate information and obtaining vital signs appropriate for age, gender, and visit type.
• Performs general clinical care for patients, including administration of immunizations, antibiotic injections, capillary labs, respiratory treatments, EKGs, spirometry testing, and other prescribed treatments under the direction of providers.
• Prepares equipment and assists providers during various in-office procedures including wound care, suture removal, chemical cauterization, impacted earwax removal, ear piercing, and other clinical procedures.
• Documents and updates patient medical histories, immunization records, and other clinical documentation in compliance with practice protocols and EMR templates.
• Observes, records, and promptly reports patient conditions or adverse reactions to medications or treatments to the provider.
• Provides patient and parent education, resources, and general clinical guidance by telephone or during in-office visits.
• Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials, ensures cleanliness of clinical spaces, and assists with inventory management and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient medical and financial information in compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
