Job Description - Peer Recovery Support Specialist - Community Living

EOE Statement

At HOPE, our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all job levels, of the community we serve.  We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

Overview

HOPE Community Services, Inc. is a leading outpatient treatment provider in south Oklahoma City.  We provide compassionate trauma informed care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by mental health and substance use disorders. We do this by providing compassionate and evidence-based treatment, aimed at improving the quality of life for those we serve.

We are seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) to join our Community Living Program. This position plays an important role in supporting individuals—many of whom are experiencing homelessness or housing instability—in achieving stability, independence, and progress in their recovery journey.

Have you experienced your own recovery journey from mental illness or substance use? Are you passionate about helping others overcome barriers to housing, build stability, and move forward in recovery? If so, this position could be a meaningful next step in your career.

About the Position
As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist in the Community Living Program, you will provide peer support, advocacy, and hands-on assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Drawing from your lived experience, you will support clients in navigating barriers, securing safe housing, and maintaining long-term stability.

This position includes peer mentoring, housing-focused support, benefits assistance, and resource navigation. You will work directly with individuals to assess needs, connect them to housing resources, assist with applications and documentation, and provide ongoing encouragement and follow-up to help them remain successfully housed.

You will engage clients through face-to-face services in both office and community settings, helping them build daily living skills, strengthen independence, and work toward personal recovery goals. This role also includes maintaining documentation, meeting productivity expectations, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, recovery-oriented care.

About the Program

The Community Living Program supports individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges—many of whom are unhoused or at risk of losing housing—in developing the skills and stability needed to live as independently as possible. Services focus on housing stability, access to income and benefits, and connection to community resources.

Through a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, the program helps individuals secure and maintain housing, improve daily functioning, and build natural supports. Peer support is a critical component of this work, offering encouragement, shared experience, and guidance as individuals navigate both recovery and the transition to stable housing.
